I am sorry to tell you that I've been told Uschi Johnson, "Fesser" -- our board moderator, has passed away. She was 43.

Uschi fought cancer with tenacity, humor, and a spirit we all found inspiring. She moderated the NFH message board for several years, well beyond hearing a diagnosis that didn't thwart her interest in helping those who suffer the ailment we all share -- Neighbors From Hell. She managed this board well, and I'm thankful she wrote me one day, asking me to let her clean things up after so much spam had found its way in while I wasn't moderating.

We did not know each other personally, but Uschi was my friend for having served this board. She grew the membership base and kept control of things.

On the main NFH site page I'm inviting visitors to write me their thoughts for an article "memorial" on Uschi, and I invite you here -- my email address is nfh@borzotta.com. Otherwise, I hope to start what will be a long string right here for everyone to share as they may wish.

We will all miss you, Uschi.

With gratitude,
Bob Borzotta

As Uschi would say, "Hey, I am 42, don't make me older than I feel!" :P

You're right -- my apologies. Her birthday was September 27, 1966. I saw the birth year, recognized it as my own, and jumped to my conclusion.

hello bob! nice to finally talk to you, although i wish better circumstances, i have been here from the begining with fesser when she had another board name, we will all miss her terribly! she kept this board alive with not much help! im sorry i wont ever see her post or pm anymore, she was so young! and now we are still here to carry on the ongoing fight she also fought, the nfh battle... which i vow not to ever let go! its all up to us here on the board she loved! let us keep the faith, even though we are all a bit different we all came here because of nfh! so lets not argue and point out small differences between each other, i know for sure fesser would not have wanted that! god bless you fesser you are now nfh free!

No words, really. When I found this board, I was just so happy to find a place for support, and Fesser, seriously helped me a lot. I know she had been having radiation, but I really did not know that things had become so bleak. We have lost a wonderful person. :( :( :(

She was a kind soul who helped me out in more ways than one. This woman actaully gave me her phone number abd I was lucky enough to have spoken to her on several occassions. She was thoughtful, understanding and had one quality that so many people are missing: compassions. She will be sorely missed.

Fess, you will be missed so much. Thank you for your upbeat and generous personality. Thank you for spending on the time on here with us, as you blessed us. This is truly our loss and heaven's gain.

She was such a special person, compassionate, caring, and strong. I do not believe the cancer beat her, she was to strong to let that happen. I believe it was her time and she was called home and now she is happy and whole. NO pain, NO worries, just happiness.
I only knew Fess for a short time but in that short time she helped me, encouraged me, was my friend. I am blessed to have known her.

OUR LOSS HEAVEN'S GAIN!!!!

God bless you Fess!!!

So like Fesser, to never mention her worsening condition. She will be greatly missed.

May she enter Heaven to discover only wonderful neighbors.

I just spoke with her neighbor. She said that Pearce and her Dad were at her apartment today.
Uschi was laid to rest in Columbus, Ga. She is buried with her mother.
He brother was not able to make it back for the funeral . Sadly, her son (21) was on his way ,about an hour from the cemetery, and his car died. No one on his Dad's side would lend him a car! My heart aches thinking of that. But, it is what it is I guess. I believe things happen for a reason that only God knows . On the flip side, her father was taking her car out to her son among some other things and so now he will have a car. No one plans to return to Birmingham and the neighbor will clean out whatever was left.
I just wanted to share and give everyone finality on the events.

Be well.

"I was diagnosed with breast cancer December 27th, 2006. After surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and a respite, it was discovered that the cancer had metastasized to my bones. I'm waiting for someone to discover the cure for this, but it's not slowing me down...I'm still very active and happy. I take a weaker form of chemo once a month, but I'm doing great in spite of that.

Now, instead of worrying about the future, I just enjoy each day as it comes and appreciate all the gifts the days bring me. Things that seem insignificant to those around me are some of the biggest things to me. Life-altering events have a way of doing that for you. I hope you all are enjoying the gifts that each new day brings! Stop to appreciate the little things...they may never come again!"

Very sad to hear of her passing. She was an inspiration to us all and she will really really be missed. She really understood how NFH really mess up your life.
I lost my mom to cancer and I comprehend the courage it takes to deal with that disease. She helped us all here in many ways. I will keep her in my prayers for sure.

I was looking for a quote to fit Fess and found a site that gives bible verses that corresponds with birthdays so I entered hers and the verse I found fit so well.

OH! I am just stunned.. I didnt know Fesser was that ill.. she spoke of her "treatments" just recently but never gave any indication just how bad it was getting .. This is sad reading .. she seemed like a sweet kind lady who would go the extra mile to help folks .. she made this board fun and interesting mostly .. ( you all do ) I will miss her posts .. I may be new here but doesnt mean I dont feel the pain of this loss..

I don't know when she left us. I was given an address but in the abundance of caution I must exercise here, I'm afraid I can't provide it. If anyone with an address has a method for sharing it with members safely, please post your ideas.
